THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond her legal practice and she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's requirements.
